Watson's - Mud Brick Renovation

80-100 year old mudbrick home that we are renovating in stages to meet a budget. Stage one saw the removal of an unsafe chimney and installation of a grand gas stove, stage 2 is removal and replacement of the old bullnose verandah sheets, posts and beams. We are also reroofing it – changing the pitch slightly to allow stage 3 which includes a loft and cellar. Dave and Maggie are passionate greenies and it’s a pleasure to work along with them on this project – stay tuned for action shots of Dave and his strange work habits!!!

Dave as “Sadie the cleaning lady” vacuuming out the roof cavity, removing the old insulation and 80 years or more of dust

The roof sheets go back on – bit newer this time though!!!

This week saw our trades finish screwing the roof down, enclosing the gable end ready for stage 3 of the project, removing the old concrete from the verandahs, digging our drains to allow cut off drains to be installed by our plumber, digging a trench to allow Cameron our electrician to bring in underground power to the house and generally tidying up so that Dave, Maggie and the kids can have their house back!

Thanks to Cameron from CR Electrix, John Hosie from Water Recycling Solutions, Danny, Paul, Bob and Brendon for work well done thus far.
